KB Securities Vietnam's ESG initiatives in 2023
It can be concluded that 2023 was be a year of significant volatility for the economy, the stock market, and KB Securities Vietnam in particular. When the market became intense and competitive, most organizations only concentrated on operations, streamlining other activities, and reducing expenses to maximize profits. However, with a focus on sustainable development, KBSV is dedicated to making a positive impact on the growth and development of the financial ecosystem by embracing our social obligations and leading digital financial innovation. For this reason, 2023 has marked KBSV's proud contribution to ESG initiatives.

The term ESG includes E - Environmental, S - Social, and G - Governance set by the Global Compact in 2004, which is a set of standards for measuring factors related to sustainable development, future orientation, and business impact on the community.
One of the core values that KBSV strives for is Growing together with our customers, contributing to the advancement of society through establishing a firm ESG management system and implementing ESG initiatives, including eco-friendly activities, social responsibility, and good governance, with the desire to spread good values to the community and society.
KB Securities has been devoting a lot of resources and enthusiasm to sharing and contributing activities to education and children, following the orientation of nurturing future generations and enhancing social values with the mission " Financial service delivering changes". Since 2009, Rainbow Class has been an ongoing initiative aimed at enhancing children's living, learning, and entertainment environments. In 2023, KBS invested nearly 1.8 billion VND to improve facilities at Marie Curie High School, Haiphong City, Vietnam, including equipping computer and foreign language rooms, building an outdoor library with 1,500 books, training to raise the standard of teaching, thereby improving the quality of learning, helping students easily access knowledge.
Additionally, KBSV and Vietnam National University, Hanoi signed a cooperation agreement with a total sponsorship value of 4.2 billion VND within 4 years, which included yearly scholarship packages, and opportunities for students to research and practice to improve their theoretical knowledge and practical skills.
On May 10, 2023, KB Securities Vietnam Joint Stock Company (KBSV) organized the first scholarship awarding session "KBSV Young Scientist Incubation Program", with 40 scholarships, each worth 25 million dong, total scholarship value of 1 billion VND for students with excellent achievements in studying, training and actively contributing to social activities.
Through awarding scholarships, KB Securities Vietnam affirms our belief in the young generation of Vietnam and out concentration on investing in human development. KBSV are proud to accompany young people to persevere in overcoming difficulties and giving wings to their dreams.
Not only does KBSV pay special attention to promising young intellectuals, but we also extend many acts of kindness to vulnerable children. On the morning of February 23, 2023, the Board of Directors and employees of KB Securities Vietnam had a volunteer trip to visit and support pediatric patients at the Vietnam National Children's Hospital. KBSV presented 17 financial gifts and 100 meals with the greatest wish of empowering the young warriors on their journey against diseases, as well as spreading solidarity and love, bringing equal opportunities to less fortunate children.
With an emphasis on connecting corporate objectives to sustainable development, KB Securities Vietnam continues to strive to support and progressively enhance the standard of living for the Vietnamese people.
Environment is the first element in the ESG standards that KBSV also pay special attention to. On September 7, 2023, KBSV launched the "Contribute to a Green Vietnam" campaign to plant watershed forests in Ben En National Park, Thanh Hoa province. To contribute one plant to the "Move for Trees" campaign, each participant must upload photographs or videos of their exercise activities on Facebook with the hashtags "#ChungkhoanKBVietnam" and "#GopxanhVietNam". "Contribute to a Green Vietnam" has drawn hundreds of people after almost a month of its start, adding 2,000 valuable trees to Ben En National Park.
Through this campaign, KB Securities Vietnam (KBSV) wish to give our contribution to preserving forest and nature as well as spread the message of "green living” to the community, prompting to sustainable development of Vietnam and future generations through meaningful social responsibilities.
In our internal activities, KBSV introduced the program "KBSV Save Energy for a Green Planet". Employees received guidance from KBSV on how to preserve energy in their daily tasks. Small steps have a huge impact. To increase their understanding of environmental protection and to propagate it to others around them, further environmental protection initiatives are also implemented, such as waste categorization and recycling, limiting plastic waste, etc.
In 2023, the mission of KBSV was “Financial service delivering changes – Happier life & better world”. In the process of achieving our mission, KBSV is committed to engaging in practical ESG activities in addition to consistently encouraging innovative thinking and spearheading first-mover initiatives using cutting-edge digital technology to support the growth of Vietnam's economy and stock market. We do this because we strongly believe that balanced socioeconomic development will provide the Vietnamese people with a happy and secure financial future.
